Farming

Farming - a massively important Scottish resource.

And it is affected by EU subsidies currently. I believe that certain subsidies have also headed England's way which should have come to Scottish farmers. This I believe is because the subsidies were worked out per hectare of farmland instead of per animal. So hill farmers who have quite low acreage as they send the sheep out onto moorland hills did not get the full amount they would have if it was worked out per head instead of per acre - http://www.thecourier.co.uk/business/farming/news/salmond-tells-pm-of-bitter-blow-to-scottish-farmers-1.169696

Here is some more from the BBC who have spoken to some farmers :

Interesting reading - basically they are possibly one of the most vulnerable to immediate effect of a Yes vote, if we don't immediately get back into the EU. In particular those farmers in areas which receive more support. But as these farmers are saying, even a No vote could make them vulnerable to a UK wide vote as to whether to stay in the EU.
